For the second year running Geo-Environmental took part in the Berkeley Foundation ‘Team Endurance’ Go-Karting event at Daytona Sandown Park to support their nominated charity – the Queen Elizabeth Foundation. Last years event raised in excess of £8000 which was then match funded by Berkeley.
Whilst we hoped for an improvement on last year, our team finished 24th of 29th – and got very wet into the bargain!
However, it was an event where taking part was more important than winning – this years event was still supporting the Queen Elizabeth Foundation, but concentrating on their MERU Project (Medical Engineering Resource Unit) based in Epsom and in particular funding the supply of the award winning BUGZI powered indoor wheelchair for children. The Bugzi offers a unique opportunity for pre-school children with disabilities to experience independent mobility for the first time in their lives and this year’s target was to fund 2 further Bugzi’s through this event.
