Since 1996, Geo-Environmental has undertaken geotechnical and environmental consultancy projects and site investigations to support developments which have included breweries, sports grounds, retail parks, renewable energy installations and new office blocks – amongst others. The services that we have provided have included; phase 1 desk studies and phase 2 intrusive investigations, soakage tests, slope stability analysis and design, basement impact assessments, contaminated land assessments, remediation strategies and validation reports, amongst others.

As a result, Geo-Environmental have worked for an impressive and diverse range of end clients that have included Travelodge, Sainsbury, IKEA, Blandford Brewery, London Irish Rugby Club and GlaxoSmithKline. Within housing, we have worked with major housing developers such as Linden’s, Berkeley’s, Persimmon, Barratt’s and Bellway’s as well as private builds (examples of which can be seen here ).

Whilst many of the technical skills for commercial development are similar to the work that we also undertake in the housing development arena, there is generally a requirement for different types and levels of information – for example, high-load foundations. In addition, commercial developments are often more likely to be on brownfield sites, making contaminated land assessments more complicated. One of the key issues for commercial developments is that the costs of disposing materials to landfill can become significant. We can provide the qualified person(s) and other experienced staff to ensure that soil is correctly classified and create the plans and strategies you need to manage your materials effectively.
