In a sign of what could be a new normal we did all of our ISO audits by video conference. Certainly dispensing with the site visit was much less time consuming for the auditor and ultimately DAS were able to ask for a lot more information than they normally would have done. Video auditing is not a soft option! However, such is the technology that we now have at our disposal, we were still able to get a good level of interaction through sharing screens on MS Teams and conferencing in other members of staff when needed. So while it could be argued that you do lose some of the personal elements of the audit, you lose none of the rigour and the process has much lower carbon emissions.
